RoboCop (1987)www.imdb.com/title/tt0093870/Cobra's Review:Just got done watching the Directors Cut of RoboCop, Never watched it when I was younger, probably due to the language. This movie is truly a classic! This movie has an awesome futuristic concept but still sticks to the 80's that are seen in most movies from this era. The only thing that lowers the score on this would be the dialog, which could of been done a lot better, which also effects the plot a bit. Why the Ed209 robot rawrs like a lion and sounds like a dinosaur when it falls down we may never know! Overall well worth the watch, a must see if you are into classic films. I'd buy that for a dollar! Final Score: 4 out of 5

I LOVE Robocop. It's such a freakin awesome movie. Seeing Robocop blast the bloody hell out of people with Basil Poledouris' powerful score in the background is the highlight of the movie.
I own the DVD you have in that picture. I've actually never seen any other cut besides the extended cut, and I'll never want to! From what I hear, it was trimmed down quite a bit for the theatrical release to avoid getting an X-rating. Probably would be R today, but back then this was like the bloodiest film ever.
Kurtwood Smith is an awesome actor. Loved him on that 70s show, and he's even better here. It's hard not to root for him. He's so badass.
Another awesome thing about Paul Verhoeven's movies is the amount of satire he layers it with. Starship Troopers kind of overdid the satire and turned it into a comedy, but Robocop has the perfect balance. It critiques modern society, commercialism, and stuff like that all though it. That lion roar from the ED-209 did sound a bit silly, but I'm pretty sure there was some sort of meaning behind that. I have no idea what it is though, but I think I read it somewhere once.
Anyways, I give it 5/5 for what it is. It is a spoof of badass macho action movies while somehow being an awesome badass macho action movie at the same time. Classic mandatory action film. Don't even think about the sequels or the series.
